Goals

Goals are outcomes your organization is working toward. Convictional uses goals to keep work aligned and aimed at the same priorities. Open them from Goals in the top navigation.

Creating a goal

Click + in the top right of the Goals page and type what you want to achieve, then press Enter to save. This becomes the goal's description, shown as the large heading on its own page. Open the goal and click Add a title to give it a shorter name as well.

Subgoals

From the Goals list, hover over a goal and click the pencil (Edit goal) icon, then click Add subgoal. Subgoals are goals in their own right, each with its own owner, status, and updates. Click the chevron next to a goal to expand and see its subgoals, and drag them to reorder.

Setting the details

Open a goal to edit its Owner, Group, or Target date. A goal can have an owner, a group, or both. Click the title or description directly to edit either one in place.

Status

Click the status dropdown next to the title to set a goal to On Track, At Risk, or Off Track. The same dropdown has a Complete option that marks the goal done immediately.

Goal Updates

If you are the goal owner, you can post updates on the goal's progress. To write an update on a goal, click Share an update… below a goal's title to open the composer. Here you can add detail on how the goal is progressing, update the goal's status, and set the percentage of attainment, then click Submit update. Choosing Complete as the status both posts the update and completes the goal.

Requesting an update

If you're not the goal's owner, you'll see a Request update button in its header instead of the composer. Click it, edit the question if you like, and click Send request — the owner is notified and can answer from the goal's page or their Inbox.

Organization admins can also set up recurring update requests from Organization Settings → Updates Configuration, choosing a Weekly or Monthly schedule and the question owners are asked.

Closing, reopening, and deleting a goal

Use the menu on a goal to Close it (without marking it complete), Reopen a closed goal, or Delete it. Deleting a goal deletes its subgoals too.

Filtering and views

Use the dropdown at the top left of the Goals page to switch between Active goals, Completed goals, and Closed goals, and the Team filter to narrow the list to specific owners or groups.

Planning lists

You can plan goals in advance. To draft a set of goals before committing to them: open the view dropdown, click New planning list, and add goals to it like you would anywhere else. These planning lists are private and only shared with people you choose to add to the planning list.

When you are ready to publish your new goals, click Activate goals. This will close all of your current goals and make the planning list's goals active in their place.
