Research
Research is autonomous agentic search that can read from and query all of the content in your Convictional company brain. Ask a one-time question, or set up a recurring schedule so a topic gets researched automatically and delivered to you by email.
Opening Research
Open the research dialog from the Research button in the main navigation (the icon with the sparkle), or press ⌘⇧K (Mac) / Ctrl+Shift+K (Windows/Linux) from anywhere in the app.
Running a one-time research query
- Open the research dialog.
- Type your question in the text box, or click one of the suggested prompts (for example, Catch me up on last week or Generate my to-do list).
- Submit the question using the arrow button, or press ⌘Enter / Ctrl+Enter.
While your research is running, the Research button in the nav shows a pulsing indicator and an elapsed-time counter. Hover over it to see all of your in-progress questions. The finished report is emailed to you — it doesn't post anywhere else in the app.
Following up by email
You can reply directly to a Research email to ask a follow-up question. Your reply is threaded with the original question and answer, so the AI has that context when researching your follow-up.
Scheduling a recurring research query
Scheduled research repeats a query on a cadence you choose (for example, a Monday catch-up or a daily to-do list) instead of running once.
- Open the research dialog and type your query.
- Click the Schedule toggle.
- Choose a frequency: Weekly, Daily, or Weekdays. For Weekly, also choose a day of the week.
- Choose the hour the schedule should run. Your timezone is shown next to the time — click it to change it in your profile settings.
- Optionally, click Preview to generate a one-off preview of what the schedule would produce, without saving it.
- Click Create schedule.
A new schedule doesn't deliver anything right away — the confirmation message tells you when the first research will arrive, based on the cadence you set. Convictional also generates a short title for the schedule in the background; until that finishes, the schedule shows as "title in progress" in your list. If title generation fails, edit and resave the prompt to retry.
Running a scheduled query immediately
To get a result without waiting for the next scheduled time, open an existing schedule (see below) and click Run now. This queues the research right away, even if the schedule already delivered once during the current window. The button reads Running… while it's queuing, then Enqueued for a few seconds to confirm.
Managing your scheduled research
Go to Scheduled research (under the More options menu in the nav, or /scheduled_research) to see all of your schedules, with their cadence and next run time.
- Click New schedule to create one from this page.
- Click any row to reopen it in the dialog, where you can edit the prompt or cadence, run it now, or delete it.
- Deleting a schedule asks for confirmation before removing it.
Where results show up
Both one-time and scheduled research results are delivered by email. Emails are prefaced with [Research] so you can easily find and read through your research outputs.
